why do they ask you to not waer polish on nails and toes during surgery-my friend says it is something to do with so they can watch to see if your nails start turning a cerain shade or something like that---can someone expllain-please

They will push down on your nail to see if you are getting enough oxygen. It should turn white for a quick second and turn back to it's normal pinky color. If it does not, you are not getting enough oxygen and that's a major problem! If you have nail polish on, it's really hard to see, if at all.

It's so they can make sure you are getting enough oxygen. It can also interfere with the oxygen monitor they put on your finger
