Time is the best medicine, I completely understand how you feel. I have had dogs all my life and work in the pet industry. I'd like to make a suggestion to you. Go check at the petsmarts on the week ends for possible adoptions. You need to completely sterilize your apartment. Go to a medical supply store and ask for a cleanser that they would use to kill an Aids Virus on humans. The company named Kenic that makes pet shampoo did sell in the past a product to clean kennels that kills the parvo virus. I do not think you have to wait 6 months if you do the proper cleaning. Have you thought about adopting a grown dog, there are many good small breed dogs that need homes. The good thing is that they may be house broke and they have a stronger immune system and will probably not catch the virus if they are at least 4 years of age and are current on shots. Think about it, some of my best dogs have been from a rescue center. The dogs become close to you when they get a good home and will show you the love your are seeking. Good luck look on line for the Kenic Company, I know the home office is in Kentucky.

So sorry for your loss. If the breeder was willing to give you another puppy then he should be willing to give you your money back, I would ask them, puppy shouldn't get sick and die 8 days after you get it. Maybe wait for 6months to a year before you get another puppy, that way you know the virus is no longer in your apartment, and not from the same breeder. It will take time, healing doesn't happen overnight, but you will heal.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your puppy. It can be a devestating thing. Almost as bad as losing a family member. I am not sure there is an answer to your question. There is no magic cure. All I can possibly say is that time heals all wounds. When my dog was run over after four wonderful years with him, I never thought I would be able to have another. I didnt see how I could possibly be without him. Of course, life goes on and your pain will ease. I found looking at pictures and talking about him and all the silly things he used to do made me laugh. Made the pain a little easier to bear. Be strong and remember the good times. Good luck to you.

I don't think you can get over something like this, but when you feel it is the right time for a new puppy, ask lots of questions to breeders. Parvo could have been prevented by the breeder. Really check out your breeder, and ask for references! Puppies should be vet checked, health checked, first shots and have deworming done before they are let go to new owners. I am so sorry for your loss. It must be awful!

My wife and I lost our 8 year old Lab December 6th 2006 and our 13 year old Vizsla Jan. 1st 2007. This was a very hard time for my wife and myself. I took it hard because I was the one who nursed them and fed them everyday. The saying goes, "Time heals all wounds." I would have to agree. It takes time. My Vizsla "Eli" was my buddy befor I got married and I cannot express the pain I felt having to have him put to sleep. It has been almost 3 months now and I still miss him, but the pain of loosing him is less now. Give it time.

ok. ive had a kitten that died in the drier machine (ppl laugh about it) and i have had my most bestest friend (literally) ever, which was a black lab. but we had to give her away to this lady that lives on a farm. we live in a nieghborhood, which isnt well with labs. So my advice for you is too tell yourself, at least its not sick, and hurting anymore, so just get another dog soon, and tell yourself, im not replacing my other dog.
you can do it if i could.
best wishes.

you will be able to get a new one :) i REFUSED to get a new one after my best friend (9mo germ shep rescue) passed away this thursday because i didnt want it to be as if she was never here. this was her home, she loved us and i loved her with every cell in my body!! BUT my sweet husband said something that made me go out and rescue another yesterday. he asked me if i knew what tracer would be telling us right now. i said "what" he replied "gooo save as many as you can!!!!" ithere will NEVER be another tracer. i have never been that close to a dog. when you sit there and literally nurse it for as long as i did (2months) day in, day out, hour after hour, it becomes your child!! i look at my new puppy maxie (whos previous owners [i was told at the shelter] was a real bad alcholic and had gotten in trouble and here she is. it seems as if shes never been loved before!! we are giving her that!! she will NEVER be my tracer- but atleast i saved another from a miserable life in a kennel. please go save one :) no more breeders!!
