According to the Christian Encyclopedia of World Religions there are some 15,000religions in the world and about 33,800 Christian denominations.

if you break it down by any point of differentiation, there are over 43,870 religions.
They differentiate by any church that does not consider itself part of some other, such as Baptists do not consider the episcopalians part of them, so they show as 2 different religions.
