A questiong was posed asking if Methodist embraced homosexual pastors, and someone had said yes - and I was just responding that this was not a true statement....but it seems as if I have opened a can of Whoopa....
This is not to say that any person is not accepted...just not their action (the word says love thy neighbor, but it also says hate sin)(

Hey, we get it...you've got some gay issues.
This probably isn't the place to deal with those.

The Methodist Church, like most mainline churches, is torn on this issue. I've known a number of gay Methodist ministers, many of whom are out of the closet. There have been some pretty high profile doctrinal trials involving a couple of openly gay ministers--if I remember correctly, the current stance of the church is that pastors can be gay, but that all Methodist pastors are required to abstain from sex outside of marriage.

Of course, this is problematic--as straight methodist pastors can marry, but gay pastors cannot.

I don't think the person asking the question is being treated fairly, as they aren't attacking homosexuals, they are just stating a fact about the church's position.

Nobody in this world is perfect. Everyone sins, that includes people who are straight and people who are gay.

someone sure seems to be fixated on gays today.

bashed anyone lately?

THE DAY that christians live their values every day, and follow ALL the tenets and scriptures in their cult book...

THEN and ONLY THEN will i accept their mental disease of going out and telling other people how to live, and calling them sinners.

Since christians will NEVER follow their cult book entirely, i'd apprecaite it if you'd stop being hypocrites and yakking about how other people live.

Saul of Tarsus hated women, too. Do you tell them to shut up in church because it is shameful for them to speak there?

Paul was a homophobe and if you believe him you are also a bigot.

You can dress it up with love the sinner and hate the sin, but it is still bigotry.

Well, yeah! Bigot, much? Targeting a group of people is bigotry, pure and simple.

Oh just what every gay person wants. A church that accepts them and looks down on them every service. Nice!
