As you begin to age your metabolism starts to slow down. That means that the same exercise at the same intensity you did when you were 20 is going to burn fewer calories than at age 45. It is for this reason that a "healthy" body fat % increases with age.
This is not meant to discourage you. There are ways you can maximize your metabolism. Try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day. By constantly feeding your body, your metabolism increases to compensate. If you enjoy coffee, try switching to green tea. Several studies have shown that the ingredients in green tea may help boost your metabolism.
Most importantly just keep at it. Don't worry about diets either. They are meant as a temporary solution to a problem, not a fix. Instead focus on eating healthy and getting plenty of good exercise. Moderate exercise in the morning has been shown to help boost metabolism as well. The higher you can get your metabolism, the easy it will be to burn fat and lose weight. You just have to remember that as you get older, you have to dig that much deeper to accomplish your goals. Just have faith in yourself and you will be able to accomplish anything.

Unfortunatly, as we get older, our metabolism slows down which means we burn the calories we do eat alot slower. Also, most people at this age arent as physically fit as they used to be when they were younger. Well done for losing the weight though :) Youve most probably reached a plateaux in your exercise regime. Which means that your body has become accustomed to the changes you have made and therefore wont lose any more weight. You need to give that body a shock again, change your programme somehow. DONT START EATING LESS. Maybe bring your walks to a light jog, even for 5 minutes. Your body will experience something its not used to. The best way to avoid a plateaux is to keep changing and alternating your work outs. Keep it up.

diet alone can't really assure you to lose the pounds u wanted to shed. at your age, metabolism has really slowed down. so it takes not only diet but also exercise coupled with the right motivation, discipline and the right attitude.
take charge and God Bless!!!

it is harder to loose weight as you get older and please i am not saying you are old lol after all i,m a young 56, but your metabolism starts to slow down hence you tend not to loose weight so fast. instead of a diet have you looked at your eating habits and tried to have slightly smaller meals and if you have any junk food including chocolate cut down.

Because after 35, your metabolism slows down making it harder to break down the fat.
