I simply asked, per a ethics paper at my Christian College, a hypothetical question about God in another post of mine, here, and my Christian brothers and sisters went NUTS!

All they said was, "I cannot even think this" or "That's like asking me to not believe in water, etc..."

Well, DUH!

What's wrong with asking someone to imagine what life would be like if suddenly the water disappeared?

Nothing.... All it takes is for you to think:
"OK, no water... The plants would all die, the world would smell like rotting fish, people would die..."

But when it came to my question:
"How would we Christians respond to this?"

My Christian friends refused to even think about it or answer it!! What's going on, here???

so what is the actual question? some people will answer... others will not. it depends on whether answering the question would be dishonoring to God....

if water disappeared, I would hope that God would sustain us without it, but all things of the earth would dry up and disappear, all water life of course, but then all things organic (anything carbon based and growing) including human unless God sustained us thru some other replenishing...

So, I will now go check out your other questions........

What are hypothetical questions? Your questions were statements, e.g., "I cannot even think this" or "That's like asking me to not believe in water, etc..." You are stating that you can't believe this (whatever this is), and you are also stating, that that is like asking you not to believe in water, another statement from your part.

Well, Duh!!!

And then you continue telling us, that all it takes for us is to think that without water the world as we know it will die...(another statement from you part).
Ant then you bring Christians in the game blaming them that they get mad and don't respond to your hypothetical questions. And then you ask, "What's going on, here???

Well, nothing is going on here, if there is no water on earth there is no life as we know it and that will occur (speaking like a Christian) only if God wishes it to occur, it would be His will, and His will alone.

If there was not a God, we would not feel remorse for our actions, and I think I would be in a whole lot of trouble. As I found myself when I was not seeking a relationship with God.
So to your Question, if there was no God...
I would be a drunk, pot head, having sex with whomever I pleased when ever... I would die of non stop parting, maybe... I am glad there is a god, and I do feel condemned for thoughts of such a sinful life. Surely a lifestyle like that would kill me faster than a nuclear bomb....

A lot of Christians are afraid to answer such questions. Personally, and I am sure you got some of the same answers, I do not think that all of the water would dry up ... but hey, what if?

If all the water dried up ... what? Then all of he water would dry up? Are you asking what would happen to our Chritianity?

We would have to respond by heading up organizations to find more and spread it around. We would have to find some other way to survive. Not all Christians are afraid of quesions ... just the ones who haven't studied to show themselves approved.

People, be they Christian or not have a tendency to either react or respond to questions they have no sure answer for. Christians cannot answer a question like yours because they don't have a reestablished guide/answer book except for the Bible. If they cannot paraphrase, or directly quote one of their ridiculously vague and misleading scriptures, they pretend to be so offended by your query that they react in a transparently defensive but aggressive manner.

I am of The True Christian Faith... if water disappeared all mortal flesh would be reduced to a pile of dust.... The human souls would then face whichever of the two judgments they were to face... Those of us of The True Christian Faith would not be concerned with such an event... Our etenal fate is secure.

Hypothetical questions about God....

well, isn't that what theology is?

Anything we say about God, who transcends everything, even the language we use, is going to be hypothetical.

Keep on asking those questions. If someone feels as if they can't answer a question, it's because they're not as secure in their faith as they claim.

Water and God.. Two different topics... Maybe you phrased it where they assumed the Apocalypse was happening.. That is a frightening thought to everyone...

well u have to understand that they are firm beleivers in their faith and they beleive that u are too
so when u ask a question opposing them you are opposing God and it is a threatening feeling especially when they think u are on the same page which u are but they see it as a threat to question Gods authority
