No... sit ups just build muscle where you don't want it. You have a six pack already under a thin layer of fat. If you're doing 240 reps of crunches, you should be seeing abs.
Get rid of the protien shakes and stop reading muscle and fitness. You'll be surprised at how much LESS calories you really need. I only need 1400 calories a day. When yu say everybody, do these everybody have abs? You don't want to be everybody you want to be someone with abs.
Make sure you do back extensions as well. If you don't work out your back it will be your weak link and you will injure yourself. Get one of those wheels, get on your knees and roll out all the way. Do five sets of five. If you can do even two sets of five you're off to a good start. If you cut your calories, work out like you say FIVE days out of the week, cut OUT SUGAR, BUTTER, HYDROGENATED OIL AND FAT you will see results, good results in a few weeks. Eat a small meal every four hours of low fat or NO FAT foods. When I say small I mean the size of your fist. A whooper JR without cheese or condiments is what I'm talking about. That will speed up your metabolism.
How bad do you want it now?

If its only been 6 weeks, then you def will not have a six pack yet. It takes a while for your muscles to grow. Add on that you are only 16, you are still growing, which means, your muscles are not developing just where you are exercising, but throughout your whole body. Just keep up what you are doing now, and slowly increase the amount that you do. Perservere and results will show.

i read somewhere that contracting ur ab muscles for 20 seconds every hour for like 1 month gets you ripped (well at least a 6-pack)

u probably are not doing it right. professional trainers are so called because they know what should be done to get the right result. i suggest that you see one. sometimes DIY (do-it-yourself) don't work!
