How much an 747 cost? How many flights or how many years the aircraft in service before the airline is able to cover the cost of a 747?

Modern aircraft are priced in the hundreds of millions of dollars... the most recent release of the Boeing 747-300 is priced in the neighborhood of $230 million! A brand-new B747-400 costs anywhere from $216m -- 247.5m USD. A used B747 varies in price due to many variables, most of them pertaining to:

- Engine Total Time
- Aircraft Total Time & Cycles
- Time to Next C or D check
- Etc.

The average PAX B742 in flying condition, current on maintenance, fetches close to $7mil+ USD open market. The average freighter is SLIGHTLY less. Those variables were completely opposite less than 2 years ago, but alas supply and demand can do amazing things to cost.

South African Airlines was buying some Boeing777's, and was scrapping their747's.
These 747's have been in service for 35 years, and there was no market for them.
