I assume all the people criticizing Al Gore are just dumb kids trying to feel big and smart on Yahoo Answers........I probably would have done the same ten years ago, but I know better now and I can only hope that they will eventually grow up and realize the mess we're getting ourselves into.

Anyway, Al Gore......had a teacher in college (I believe) who had taken various data regarding the atmosphere and presented his findings in class. This teacher and his research has a big effect on Al Gore and this is presumably how he got started. Then, his rise in politics probably gave him the confidence to try to do something about the environment. Also, his son's accident probably made him stop and think more about the future and the world his son would grow up in.

Respone to ynotgay.....

Al Gore pays money out of his own pocket to offset the carbon emissions from his personal use. Yes, the pollution still goes into the atmosphere, but by investing in green energy he prevents an equal amount of pollution from being emitted in the future. I'm sure he could do more to reduce his personal energy usage, but the fact of the matter is that his net effect on the environment is a lot less than yours and mine. I know it's not your fault you didn't know this information, and hopefully you're smart enough to understand how this works. I'll refrain from calling you an idiot in the hopes that you come to your senses and stop before you write something inflammatory just for the purpose of making yourself feel like a big shot.
