If you believe that, you can wait to put it up... My son slept with me and in a bassinet for his first 5 months anyway......I had his crib up though, just didn't use it much. He only used it from about 5months old til 18 months old.....then he used a toddler bed...

Last thing you want to do is put together a freakin' crib when the baby is actually born! I mean, if you're using a bassinet then I guess you're cool without a crib for up to 3 months. I don't know-I wouldn't stress about it. Lots of people have their nursery already done and decorated to show off to their friends-so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the old folk tale.

Everyone I know puts up their crib well before the baby arrives.
That same tradition fit along with how you aren't supposed to buy baby clothes before the baby is born. It's kind of morbid, since it comes from a "don't count your chickens before they hatch" kind of mentality.
Put it up before the baby's birth. You're not going to want one extra chore to do after the baby is born.

I'm not a big believer in old tales, but if someone in your family is big on it, wait until you are in the hospital and have your husband put it up. If no one is around and you don't buy into that tale, put it up now and enjoy looking at it and making it all ready. It is mostly whether or not someone around you is going to make a big deal about it and start freaking out because you're tempting faith or whatever.

From what i've got examine, protecting infant interior the room with you till six months facilitates shrink the prevalence of SIDS. My son slept interior a similar room with us till he replaced right into a sprint over 9 months. whilst we placed him in his own room, he replaced into nevertheless waking up as quickly as a nighttime... i'm fairly effective, out of habit. via that element he wasn't taking a bottle anymore. i might rock him returned to sleep and that replaced into that. He began napping for the period of the nighttime some approximately 2 weeks after he replaced into placed into his own room and thoroughly as quickly as he grew to become 10 months. So positive! He is going to sleep at 8 at nighttime and sleeps til 8 interior the morning.

well, I didn't hear that, I put mine up at least 3 weeks before the first was born, and it didn't come down for 6 years! 3 kids 2 years apart. So, maybe the tale should be about taking it down quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!
