Is there a way to keep the carbonation (fizz) in a plastic liter bottle of soda after it's been opened? It always goes flat within 12 hours.

DON'T shake it!

I always give the bottle a little squeeze b4 I tighten the top to let out extra air. Mine last for 4-5 days & stay fresh even when opened 2-3 times a day.

Someone said store it upside down in your fridge, but that didn't work so good for me.

Our local Tops market carries a top you put on the pop bottle that is called a "Fizz Saver" . You just screw it on rather than the normal top and pump it til the bottle is full of air..it will get hard to pump when it's been pumped enough. This way pop will last for up to a couple weeks. Hope you can find one...it's in the kitchen gadget section of the supermarket.

Squeeze the air out of the bottle before putting the cap back on. Careful not to squeeze the soda out! Air is the enemy of carbonation.

After you put the lid back on (tight) shake it a little.
