How old are you? Are you 16 and your changing table is still in your room? Can you just replace the bed with something that compliments the furniture you already have? (Don't rule out brass or fabric.) Furnishing a room is a large purchase and people generally don't do it more than once. Instead they work around what they have.

Can you contribute to the purchase? Any time my kids offered to ante up I knew they were sincere. Furniture can be very expensive. Do some homework first. Look closely at the rest of the house, check brands. This should help you find a price range your parents are comfortable with. Look for a design you like and get some prices. If you are old enough to make the rounds, visit a few furniture shops. Pay close attention to sales. Check Craigslist, you might not find exactly what you want but you might find something else you like as much.

Good luck!

You cannot, since I am sure that your parents provide everything for you at the age of thirteen. I am sure that you have a roof of your head and clothing and food to eat and a bed to sleep in.

You do not need to have a full bed and all new matching furniture.

If you were old enough to have a job and support yourself you should know that it takes a long long time to save money for major purchases, which a suite of bedroom furniture would be.

Start being thankful for what you have, many people live with a lot less.

This sounds like a want and not a need.

Do you get an allowance at all?

Is there a just reason why you want your parents to shell out that kind of money for furniture? You are looking at a lot of money here, possibly thousands of dollars.

This would be better spent on an Education fund or something along that line.

I never had a matching furniture set until was old enough to buy it myself.

So good luck to you.

Being a parent, I know that when my kids are willing to help earn something I am more willing myself to pitch in. Why not offer to earn part of the money? Or you can tell them that this will be your birthday, Christmas gift, whatever, for the next year or two or whatever. I don't know your parents financial situation and furniture is expensive.

Also,it's amazing how much good furniture you can buy very cheaply. Try Ikea. Or check out the used furniture ads. Craigslist.com is in every city and has great buys. Check out the thrift shops as well.. Sometimes buying old stuff is more fun, as you can paint it however you want and really personalize it. When you get tired of it , as you will, Paint it again! Good luck.

Furniture is expensive. Getting a job to contribute towards the cost would be a good start. Or offer to do more work around the house.

First thing, make sure your room is CLEAN before you go to them. Otherwise they will accuse you of not taking care of what you already have. Explain that you are growing and that you need a room that fits your personality. Promise to keep your room clean...maybe even make up a fake contract guaranteeing this promise. Offer to do chores around the house to help offset the price.

I hope this helps and good luck!!

Sell or get rid of your old furniture. Sleep on the floor for a while. When they ask why. Tell them you wanted to see what it was like to 'be without' like so many homeless people in this world. Be glad for what you have.

I think that if you are old enough, you should have ( get) a source of income and show your parents that your responsible and are willing to help pay the cost.

Have you started saving any money toward this new furnature? If you have, offer to pay for half, and see if they might meet you halfway or 25%. They might feel you are being responsible saving money for something you really desire.

The first thing you would need to do is be able to answer "Why" and do it convincingly. Then make notes and take this in discussion with your parents. Whatever you do, DO NOT Whine! Good luck.
