While I think that many christians have lost their way, I do know for certain that many many Christians and non Christians for that matter, follow Christ's teachings. His spirit is still very much alive in the world today.

Peace!

From the period of Christ's crucifixion until 300 AD or so, Christians lived in communities according to the teachings of Christ, which is of course to love one another as God loves us. The peace, love and joy that these communities enjoyed attracted many, many converts to Christianity, in fact it was the main reason for the phenomonal growth

At the Council of Nicaea in 300 AD that all changed when the Bible was put together. No more emphasis on love, instead the emphasis became to fear God. In the Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew languages fear meant, "to be afraid of", despite the band aid that contemporary religion says that it means, "respect". If "fear" means "respect" as these new spin doctors would have us believe then the following quote from John.
"There is no fear in love for perfect love casteth out fear" would read,
"There is no respect in love for perfect love casteth out respect".
Following the Council of Nicaea, came the Inquisition of 800 years in which those Christians who would dare question the Church were tortured and executed. Doesn't sound like Christ's teachings to me, does it to you?

I think the church has for the most part become a part of the world.

1 John 2:15
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

You can't lump all Christians together. That's like lumping all white people together. Some of us are English, some are Italian, some are Irish, etc... etc.....

Many Christian faiths have lost way in some form or another. Egos within the church have been responsible for people to leave and form "their version" of Christianity.

However, they want to split hairs is their problem and will come before Jesus and God one day to answer for their ways. Following the Bible is the one true Christianity and I'm not about to debate one's faith over another. We will all be judged one day.

For anyone that lumps all Christians together they are as ignorant as those who claim to be Christian yet live the way they want to, putting themselves first and not God.

YES! It seems church has become more about numbers and entertainment rather than the cross. Could you imagine Jesus and His discilples dressing up in costumes to get people to come to church. Well that is exactly what happened here where I live. Teens dressed up as super heros and standing on street corners to appeal to other teens. We are to go out and preach the gospel and love one another. Somewhere along the way, we lost sight of what Jesus told us to do. It's so simple, yet we've complicated it.

Many have yes--- they want to teach whatever pleases men-- so that they can gain "Friends" instead of sharing the truth for what it is, and gaining saints for God's kingdom!
Jesus taught, using the Law, to show people their sin, and then they realized they had sinned against God.
He taught with love, teaching about how one must have faith in Him, that He is the only way to God--through the shedding of His blood, when we believe are set free from sin and hell.
He did this in love, and just to warn people, just to tell them of what CHRIST has done! That IS love, think about it..... by not telling someone, and just "being their friend" for a long time, but never sharing the truth with them.....they could die anytime- and all that time you were with them, you could of shared the truth with them about Jesus Christ. Even if they refused to hear, at least you shared it, and it was "exposed" as we should expose God's truth and Gospel!!

Yes. I believe the religion founded by Jesus (actually, more of a philosophy) has been completely twisted around. He taught about doing the right thing, about helping the less fortunate. Modern "Christians" are more concerned about being "born again" and trying to coerce people who don't believe in their belief to be second class citizens and/or have no rights at all.

Yes, because a lot of churches have lost their way. The churches are tolerating anything and not standing on the commandments of God.

Yeah, I don't see many of them signing up for the "sell everything you have and give it to the poor" teaching.

I like them better when they remember the "be nice to each other" teaching.

I think a lot of people claim Christianity out of convenience, with no real foundation in or history of the religion itself.
