My 1 1/2 year old male cat vomits after eating wet food. He eats and digests dry food fine, drinks normally, and has no outstanding bathroom issues. He has an occasional hairball, but that seems to have worked itself out (there is never hair in the vomit after eating). He will eat the wet food (never more than a 1/4 of a small can) and vomits within 2 minutes of eating, but seems normal afterward. We have stopped giving him wet food for now, but this affects our other cat also, as we are no longer giving him wet food either. Any Ideas?

It has nothing to do with the food recall as this all happened prior to that.
I give them dry food everyday (one of those auto feeder type bowls) but was told when they were kittens that wet food was a good suppliment/treat for them. He was originally tolorating it well, but after almost 4 months he started the vomiting

He is regurgitating. He loves wet food SOOOO much that he hogs it down, and it comes right back up. The food recall probably has nothing to do with it. A few of my cats do this regularly. Either feed a very tiny amount at a time (like a quarter of 1/4 can) or stop it altogether. I bet you he just REALLY likes it! To test for sure, try giving the tiny amount...if he does not regurgitate it, then give him a tiny bit more in a few minutes. If he holds it down, he's definitely a wet food hog. If he throws it up after even the tinest amount, consult you veterinarian.

Well there could be a number of reasons why. My cat has bladder issues so he is not allowed to have wet food but this also effects my other cats as well. One of my cats eats it too fast so he vomits sometimes. It could also be the fact that wet food is really hard for some cats to digest. but if he vomits within minutes, he may just be eating too fast. The only way we knew my cat was having problems was because whenever we pet him anywhere near his stomach,he would get sensitive and run away. but if you say your cat is acting fine otherwise, then i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Is it one brand of wet food that he vomits on? If so, I woul suggest he may be allergic to something in that particular food. I'd prob just stick to dry food if he really has no problems on it, an all-dry diet is fine so long as the cat always has access to water.
If you do want to include some wet food for variety, bland diets (i.e just chicken and rice types) are available for sensitive stomachs.

It is probally because of the Wet Food recall that has been happening. Lemme give you the site, and check out if the cat food your Kitties eat, is on the list.

If the food you are giving them is on there, stop right away, and taken them to the vet immediatly!
Rat Poisining is inside some of the Gravies. Be so careful!
I hope everything is okay.

Is the food you give your cat comming from the fridge. I had a cat that used to do this, but he was able to hold his wet food down better if it was served at room temperature.

It sounds like fur balls. use petramalt for your cat it will help disolve the fur ball in the stomach. I use it for my cat and it works. It could be something in the food that is making them sick.
