Have you tried the Public Carriage Office in London - if it was in London you lost it. If another city, try the lost property there.
The only way to obtain an emergency passport is by arranging an appointment with the passport office. You will need to attend on a weekday and allow 1/2 a day to attend. My husband had to do this. You need to fill in the forms, bring passport photos and birth certificate, proof of address, marriage certificate etc. They will charge you about £90 for it. The office he went to is next to Victoria Station in London. Good luck. They will not let you travel without a passport, no.

Ask the Public Carriage Office (who regulate taxi drivers) what their standard procedure is with lost property- it may well have been handed in at a Police Station. To get a replacement before Monday, get an application form and LS01 from a Post Office and ring the Passport Office to make an appointment (number is in the application pack). Make sure your photos meet the criteria and get your application countersigned. Someone may be able to collect it on your behalf but I'm not sure so don't quote me on that part. Good luck.

Generally if a passport is lost, the passport office expect you to report it to the police ( in order to declare it lost / stolen). It sounds like your f**ked. Although my mate once had a passport rushed to him via courier from the office in newcastle to london, delivered at about 3:00am for a 07:30 flight. Oh and for about £300!! Good luck
