It might not be so funny. For many, fathering a child who is hermaphrodite may well be a sort of nightmare.
Before enlightening you on some aspects of this condition let me tell u 1 thing. Dont get terrified by such thoughts. Its all chance. Supposing, what if someone bore a 'male' child who later turns out to be impotent? Its just destiny and some genetics.
To understand better you need to know what really is a hermaphrodite. A true hermaphrodite is a one who has both the testis and ovary. It is very rare and there is very little you can do to prevent it- same as preventing the birth of a female (or say male!) child. The only way is to have the baby's sex known during pregnancy and getting it aborted.
Then there is the second group called pseudohermaphrodites who are genetically of one sex but physically they are of the other sex. For example a person may be male genetically (XY) but he will have breasts, vagina and all other external organs as that of a female. But since he does not have ovaries or uterus (internal organs) he cannot bear children.
Of the multiple factors that lead to such conditions one that clicks my mind now is when the mother is taking hormone pills. Suppose she is taking male hormone pills (for some codition) unknowing that she is carrying a female child she will land up delivering a child who has ambiguous genitalia i.e., it cannot be ascertained by observing the genitals whether its a male or female.
So be careful of the drugs that you take during pregnancy and also the radiation (eg., Xrays) during pregancy. It will not prevent the condition totally, but lessen the risk (of most genetic disorders) to a large extent

Why just hermaphrodites? Why not a child with spina bifida that will really suffer? What worries you about having a hermaphrodite child? That you will be ridiculed?

Hermaphrodites are very rare.
Birth defects are often caused by mineral/vitamin deficiencies, but others are just genetic.

There is no way you can control that defect.

The only way to be sure that you never give birth to a hermaphrodite is to make sure you never give birth at all.

Let me give you a 21st century answer. In an unlikely event of giving birth to a hermaphrodite (not the right term, human beings can't have sex with themselves, rather we term it as supermale/ superfemale or hypermale/hyperfemale), you better abort the womb or kill the baby immediately after it's birth. This is legal in most of the countries and being extensively exploited. Don't ask me what if the next baby is also an hyper(fe)male.

It doesn´t exist such care, hermaphodite is a condition originated by bad formationduring pregnancy impossible to predict, you should quit drugs, alcohol and have a healthy life with a balanced diet, one pill of folic acid at day in the first 3 months will help considerably.

Scans when you are 12 and 20 weeks will help to know that the basic bay, legs and arms are ok but genitals are imposible to stablish to this degree.

Consult about absolutely any medicament before to take it during pregnancy and good luck

Hermaphrodites are very rare and also unavoidable. It is something that happens in the womb. There is no way of preventing it if it is too happen
