I had paid off debts years ago, but when I applied for mortgage pre-approval, 1 agency showed that I had never paid off the debt. The loan officer said "it just hasn't been updated."....What does that mean?

How do I get it updated?

You should dispute the charge on your credit report by going to the credit bureau (agency) that reports the loan as never being paid off... If you still have records of your payment, you should send those in with your dispute and should also send in copies of your other credit reports that show that the debt was paid.

Odds are that your lender understands and won't factor that into their loan-making decision, but you should fix the error either way.

Best of luck!

If you have any type of receipt for the payment or a place on your bank statement where you paid it you can use that to prove the payment. Check out our website...we have helped many people in your situation and may can help you too. www.jcwilliamscreditservice.com
