October 1st is fine. I was going to suggest no later than October 15. Assume that if you say October 1, you will get some stragglers. I think a month is acceptable, just be sure, then, to send out the invites AT LEAST 8 weeks in advance. Most people do 6-8, but if you only do 6, you're basically giving everyone about a week to respond. If you send them out at least 8 weeks in advance, 1 month lead time is fine.

I would recommend you set your reply date 2 weeks prior to the date the caterer needs the last final count. This way you will have time to call any guests who haven't rsvp'd. That's what we did and it worked out great. We had to have our final count 3 days before our wedding. Just double check with your caterer to see what their actual policy is for providing a final count and use that for your guideline.

Find out how soon your caterer, ceremony site and reception site need final counts, and do at least 2-3 weeks before that. Personally when I send mine out I'm going to give them a month, because so many of my friends are such slackers when it comes to things like that. Consider how prompt your friends and family are. If they are good with things like this, then you could probably do with a shorter time period.

That being said I think standard is two weeks before you have to have a final count.

I'm doing mine 3 weeks. That way it gives me 1 week to contact those who did not respond. The cater will have his #'s 2 weeks before.

I would give yourself about 3 weeks so that you can have time to call and round up stragglers and also give your caterer a head count. I would say October 12.

I put the RSVP one week before my caterer needed their count to give time to call people who don't respond(you know the people you should of "Known" would be there.)

Find out when everyone needs to know final numbers (cater, church, hall whatever) then give a week before that.. just to give you a little time.

And yes they way you have written it is great.

Four weeks would be good because you always have the late ones that reply after the date. Make sure you put the exact date on the reply card. (Oct 6, 2007)

I'd give them 6 weeks....need to respond by Sept 15th...that way it will allow for the inevitable late responses and you'll still have time to let the caterer know!
