I was just diagnosed with Nerocardiogenic Syncope after failing the tilt table test because i passed out minutes after taking the nitroglicerin tab and now that i know whats wrong its scary to know that people with this diagnosis should not drive and refrain from anything that has to do with heights. So far i have only felt lightheaded and to the point of passing out but not quite (only during the tilt test). Is this something that can get worse? Does anyone have this condition and how do you manage?

if you're in the UK get in touch with Trudie Loban at STARS (link below) if not find yourself a local group for info as normal GPs aren't all that clued up.

No two cases of syncope are the same, I collapsed without even going near a nitroglycerine tab on the tilt table. You'll probably find you have good and bad syncope spells and there will be things you can avoid to stop things getting too bad.
Talk to your doctor about a high salt diet, take lots of fluids and keep taking any meds they pass your way, it may take a while to find the right combo for you. It's a good idea to keep a syncope journal, write when you felt pre-syncope (or actual syncope), what you were doing when it happened and anything you did to make it feel better quickly.

You can also try to get used to syncope by doing tilt exercises, you should be able to get a leaflet on those from the cardiologist. I've never had problems with heights but I'm a terrible traveller, I love hill climbing but the drive to the hills is killer for me. Remember to tell people that you're a collapser because it's best to have people prepared in case anything does happen (and you get sick of A&E after a while) but don't let syncope restrain you any more than you have to.

I have had this for decades. While it's traumatic and also you do must make tradition alterations it may be treated. However you stated you handed out after taking a Nitroglycerin capsule. That in itself isn't that exotic. Nitrogycerin can and can lessen your blood strain oftentimes for that reason you may also suppose dizzy and go out. When you are taking nitro at some point make certain you're sitting down in a trustworthy chair in which you'll now not fall. You the lightheadedness simplest occured while at the tilt desk. The first aspect of the experiment is that they position you at 70 measure perspective and wait and watch your blood strain and your pulse in a quiet darkish room. If no alterations they provide you a drug that accelerates your center fee. Then they watch. Reflexively a few men and women's center attempts to gradual down dramatically on its possess ( stimulation of the vagal nerve ) for that reason drops the blood strain. They come to be symptomatic potentially lightheaded dizzy or go out for a couple of seconds- ( not up to one million mintue). for that reason a constructive experiment. Can it worsen? Of path it will probably, something can? Does it? now not constantly. There are many elements concerned and each and every character is extraordinary as to the motive that brought on it. There isn't any remedy for it however it's viable. Dont permit it take over your existence. My syncope is a effect of coughing . Called Cough Syncope. or NCS. For me it used to be getting a pacemaker which might now not permit my center fee drop too low while I do have a episode. I are not able to sit down at a 70 measure perspective like in a recliner. I must sit down directly up or lie down. I cant get on ladders. Or top locations. I dont do stairs with out anybody in the back of me. Its now not the syncope that kills you it is going to be the autumn, the top harm, the automobile coincidence. BUT I paintings fulltime in a Critical Care unit as a RN . I am as lively as I constantly were. I force however I am cautious nearby simplest. My children force out of the town and on highways. I see my heart specialist in general and I am fortunate he handles all my fall accidents additionally. It's primary your loved ones is aware of you might have this and what to do and the way to support you return out of it . Wear a scientific alert bracelet if you happen to go out in public. Good good fortune
