Back in the day in North America, the Audi 5000 was implicated in a number of accidents related to "unintended acceleration", wherein the cars sped up uncontrollably until they hit something (eventually it was proven to be driver error.)

At the time, someone wrote into a major automotive magazine and asked the following question: "Regarding this tendency for Audis to accelerate uncontrollably -- how can I apply this technology to my diesel Chevette?"

My point here is this: you have a great little economical car. If you poured tons of money into it, you might get a little speed boost -- but it would take as much, if not more, money than simply selling and replacing it for a faster car would cost.

And if you don't have the money for that, you don't have the money to "get more speed" out of that little fiesta.

kn panel filter or one like into the standard airbox with plasic 3" pipe leading into hole in filterbox to provide more air to na engine.Over end leading through front grill or bumper mesh it tho for the bugs.LOt of car mod shops sell the plastic pipe if didnt want to make your own.
Or vent on bonnet straight into air box.
Dont go for cone filter unless has heatshield surround or way away from heat from engine. Many people fit these but dont realise its sucking up warn air from engine and losing engine power.
Change plugs to ie iridium and better leads to them.
Change petrol filter help with power and mpg.
Change oil and filter no cheap oil.
Lose weight in car air con etc if dont use.
remove cat from exhaust big gain there.
max 3" backbox
lighter flywheels .
nos big bhp gain
add a turbo lot more work tho.
or just race around when weather cooler or evenings ie not hot days as need cold air ;)

It works....trust me!!!!

easy, if its a zetec SE drop a 1.6 SE in, if its an old CVH, drop a XR2i lump in. both engines are plenty powerful for a small car..
