Audiobooks.
I used to commute 30 mins each way daily, and audiobooks are great for that. I even got a few co workers hooked on them. Most of the really popular books get released on audio right away.
If you get one with a good narrator, they can even be better than reading them yourself. I actually listened to the Harry Potter series on disk. They were a hoot!!
You should be able to get them at your local library. There are also online 'clubs' that you can rent from. (Library is cheaper)

Move.
I'm not kidding.
I had a painful commute like yours for five years, and nothing made it better; music gets boring, nicer cars get boring, and the scenery never changes. Heck, I once practiced playing guitar and singing while inching through stop-and-go traffic, and while the other drivers seemed highly amused, that got boring, too.
I then moved closer to work (within four miles, all surface streets) and my commute dropped to less than ten minutes. My quality of life improved dramatically, and was well worth the cost and trouble of moving. I'm happier, I have a lot more time on my hands, and there's *no* downside. Even if you think "hey, I'll be away from my friends/family", you could do your 90-minute commute to see them a few times a week -- but off peak hours, so it'll be faster -- and be way ahead of the game.
If you can't move, carpool with people you like (ideally rotating different people in) so that you have folks to talk to. Or take the train, so that you can read a book or something -- although that'll get boring eventually, too. Really, the only way to truly make your commute less boring in the long term is to get rid of it.

iPod or well morning radio exhibit are each motive force pleasant approaches to stick entertained, frequently educated and equipped to pay concentration to the avenue. I additionally agree that in case you discover a shop that you just love to decide on up a espresso and beverage for paintings, that breaks up your go back and forth a bit of as good. If you live in a extra city field, there shall be sufficient to maintain your concentration at the approach into paintings except you're employed an bizarre hour shift. (I'm assuming you are preserving a relatively normal agenda.) On the way in which dwelling, do not fear approximately racing dwelling like every body else. I do not realise why every body feels that they HAVE to be dwelling at five:05pm!!! Most of the injuries I see everyday within the overdue afternoon contain individuals riding too rapid and recklessly on their approach dwelling to look their loved ones... style of ironic. Hope this is helping a few, well good fortune with the brand new activity too!

How do youi commute? Public transportation, or do you drive? If you take public transportation, try reading the morning paper or a book or catch up on your work; if you drive, just pay attention to the road and your surroundings. That's much more important than amusing yourself!

Try listening to an audio book. For me at least this turns a long drive into a treat.
