Hasn't anyone heard of it??? I live there and all the americains (AND SOMETIMES EVEN THE ENGLISH) havent heard of it. No, its not like northern england or nothern wales. Northern Ireland is a completely different country than Ireland. just in case ur wonderin I am half Northern Irish and half Indonesian OK please answer lol cuz im such a loner........

Yes I've heard of Northern Ireland. I live in Southern Ireland so that would be why. I don't forget about the tip of my island not being part of my country. Don't worry. It's a lovely place and seems peace will be coming soon with the agreements soon coming from Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams

Hi! I'm from the U.S. and I've not only heard of Northern Ireland, but I've visited there (specifically Belfast) in April 2004. Lovely place, but like the Republic, very rainy. I only had the privilege of only sunny day in the 8 days I was there.

I disagree that Northern Ireland is different from 'Ireland'. I know we are governed from different parliaments but living in the six counties make me as Irish as anyone in any of the others counties. To most of the world Ireland is Ireland and they don't want to know about our little difficulties.

Its hard to believe that english people havent heard of NI.or to be correct the 6 of the 9 counties of ulster the other 3 counties are Donegal .Cavan and Monaghan which are in the Irish Republic.I am from Dublin and look forward to the day the 6 counties rejoin the other 26 to make a new Ireland that will cater for our new diverse population.

Be glad you're not Welsh, because the EU left them off a map of Europe. I don't think Northern Ireland will exist in 60 years time though because political momentum

Sure have. My Scots-Irish ancestors came to America in the 1700's from Ulster and settled in Southwest Virginia, where they are today.
So yes, some of us know about Northern Ireland and wish it well.

I can't imagine any British people will not know the difference between Northern Ireland & Ireland.
I say "British" because not all people in Britain are English as your questions insinuated! THAT is something Americans (& now yourself) get wrong!

I'm Irish. From Dublin, so you'd know. When I tell epople in Europe I'm Irish, they invariably talk of Belfast, and the Troubles. It seems you are lucky and don't come across these people.
True, a lot of people are uneducated.
I have one answer for these people.
