Why is everyone answering as though the world in the novel "Brave New World" is something good? Are you all insane or something? We seem to be progressing there sadly, what with personal responsibility being placed on the government. It's mostly minor things with some more major things since 9/11 such as phone tapping, suspension of habeus corpus, et cetera. I hope we never get to BNW in my lifetime.

The bible says there will one day be a new heaven and a new earth. This will not happen until the seven year tribulation period comes to an end. This seven years has not yet begun. It will begin at the rise of the antichrist. He has not yet come upon the world scene.
Therefore...it's still some years away. And it's not described as a "brave" new world in the bible. It will be the reign of Jesus Christ.....forevermore.

As long as man rules Earth we are in danger of destroying it, the worst thing that ever happened to this planet was and is us, we are violent abusive of our power and have no regard for ourselves or other creatures that live here, so the brave new world will only be here when we are gone, probably sooner than we realize.
Chris.

We've been in it since the dawn of man...
Think about it. Every step we take in the religious, philosophical, and scientific evolution of man is a step into a "Brave New World"
We're living it! Enjoy it!

Hmmm. Convincing women that motherhood is a burden, sex for recreation only, desensitization to the point of finding other people's suffering humorous.... I hope not too close.

I never read it but I'm reading 1984 and I've heard they're similar and I'mseeing some freakish similarities between our current situation and that book!

I think we have a ways to go, but technology is getting us there quicker than I would have imagined when I first read it 15 years ago.
