My little girl has always slept 10 - 12 hours per night since three months of age. Last night; however, she slept from 8:30p.m. until 11:15a.m. this morning! Thankfully she didn't wake up to a lake! Then, she got up ate, had a bath, played for about 15 min. and now she's taking a nap again. Should I be concerned? She has no signs of being sick. Is this just a growth spurt going on??

I should add that she was a preemie so she has always been a good sleeper...trying to catch up to her ideal weight and height.

wow, thats a lot of sleeping. well speaking of my own experience my son only did this when he was sick. maybe she is about to get sick and isnt feeling well ,even though to you she appears ok. if it keeps happening go have her blood checked, call up your ped. and see what she has to say about it.

my little one is 19 1/2 months and he will have times where one night he is REALLY tired and can sleep 10-12 hours at a time, there there are those nights he wants to only sleep 8. I think if she is acting and playing normally and eating well, you shouldnt worry. Like you said, she may be having a growth spurt.

It could be a growth spurt, or it could be her thyroid is acting up. Just watch her closely. If she seems to be a bit jaundice, take her to the doc. A simple blood test can do wonders.

Growth spurt, maybe she is feeling a little under the weather, or maybe she's cutting her 2 year molars. My kids always seemed rather tired when cutting teeth.

Totally normal. Its funny, my kids used to be similar, whenever they slept really long at night, a really good sleep, thats when they'd be more tired for their nap. I guess my mother's saying that "sleep begets sleep" really is the case!
Enjoy the time! :)

sounds like a growth spurt, my kids always sleep a lot more when they're having or about to have a growth spurt.
