We can't boot it into windows even from safe mode?

When we try and boot it from any Windows XP cd , whichever option you choose repair or fresh install you only get as far as the Blue Screen with

"Examining 76317 Mb Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi" and it
freezes any ideas?

First check a few things when you first start booting the computer.
Do you see a RAM count? If no either your RAM or mother board is the problem. At this point you should take it into a computer shop to see if they can fix it.
Do you hear a series of beeps from the computer during boot up that where not there before the problem? If so check the motherboard or computer manual for the beep codes. This will tell you what is wring

If neither of those is the problem then it sounds like a hard drive problem. You have two choices
1) buy an new hard drive and install in in place of the old one. This option if you want to have any chance of retrieving the data from the existing drive. If you have never done this before you may want to find someone who has. It is not really that hard but there is a risk of damaging the computer with a static shock.
2) you can try to repartition and format the existing drive. If you try option two and it still will not work then you will have to get a new drive. I have included two links for instructions on how to partition and format a drive form the Windows XP CD.

In my experience, computers that are behaving this badly, need to be 'restored'. Just trying to boot it from 'any windows XP' CD will not do it. Any computer, from new, either came with a restore CD or a partition on the hard drive containing the information. In the latter case you are encouraged to create your own restore CD(s).

If you do not have the CD you should be able to get one from the computer manufacturers (at a cost).

The computer needs to be instructed to 'boot' from the CD rather than from the hard drive, and, hopefully, the system will be restored to factory fresh condition.

Unfortunately, if there is any physical damage to the hard drive, it may need replacing.

Good luck

i'm undecided I comprehend the question. It appears like the computing gadget is in sturdy working order and would not want fixing. Why would not he choose to grant it lower back? If he purely borrowed it he ought to take it lower back by using fact in any different case he could be stealing it.

This could be a number of problems, the most likely is that your hard drive is faulty, this is the first thing to check, if the hard drive is fine then it is possibly your RAM, motherboard, cpu or PSU.
