All amplifiers take an input signal, Vi, and provide an output signal, Vo. The gain of the amplifier is simply Vo/Vi. This is the voltage gain, and is the most commonly referred to Gain. You simply manipulate all your equations so that they are expressed in terms of Vo and Vi. Then work them so you have Vo/Vi on one side and your gain equation is the other. There is also current gain (Io/Ii) and Vo/Ii, and Io/Vi gains.
