My nephew is allergic to literally everything - peanuts, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, etc. Anyway, my lil sis gave him a drink with red dye 40 in it and by morning his face looked burnt. It was a minor typical reaction to something he'd ingested or come into contact with, however, he hadn't left the house that day and the only thing that he had had different in his diet was this drink. She re-read all the ingredients and the only thing she could come up with is blue dye 1 and red dye 40.
I loooked up blue dye 1 all over the web and did not really see any info on any kind of reactions. The red dye 40 was a mixed bag. So, I was just wondering if anyone here has had a reaction to this.

Yes, my son and my nephew both have reactions to the coloring. My son becomes very wild, hyper and down-right uncontrollable. My nephew has headaches(severe migranes) when he takes it and also has to be very careful of hand soap with it in it. His hands become so read it almost looks like a chemical burn on them after he uses it. My ped. says that no child should have Red dye 40 and recommends all of my children steer clear of it.

I know a lady whose girl is allergic to red #40. It gives her seizures.
My daughter is allergic to yellow #5. It gives her asthma.

Yeah I am allergic to all artificial colors and flavors thats why I eat no junk food at all. He should stay away from it eventhough it might be hard. GOOD LUCK!!
