The mpg expected of a Kia Sedona 2.9 CRDi?

Question

I don't think I'm getting enough mpg. On a steady motorway run of 300 miles it used 23 mpg. Other people go on about 40 to a gallon with theirs. It's new so should I be expecting to run it for a few miles till it behaves properly?

It was on cruise control set at 75mph.

Go to the manufacturers website and look for technical details. It will be there as it is a key selling point.
