Mormons don't beleive in the same Jesus...?

How is the Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, Redeemer of mankind--The same who died for our sins, who set up his church, the one who provided the atonement so we could gain eternal life and exaltation--The same Lamb of God and Only Begotten Son... who lived a perfect mortal life and who now sits on the right hand of God...any different than the one 'Christians' believe in?

It's amazing to me how many of you are spreading false information.

Jesus is Lord and God of this earth.

You know you shouldn't listen to everything your pastor says.

Schneb,
1.With due respect, I find your argument hypocritical. You condemn all that change the word of God but use a revised (changed!) Bible version. We use KJV which has been translated the least.
2.Lucifer is the brother of Jesus Christ. If not, where did he come from? Was he created to be so or always been? No! Isaiah 14:12 "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning?"
3.God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ are separate beings. Study of the Bible would dissolve any question on the matter. Throughout the Gosples, Christ references His Father and prays to Him. Matthew 3:17, after Jesus' baptism, "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
4.On the Bible in the LDS church. Visit http://www.answeringlds.org/index.html?artBibleResRev.html.
5.On salvation by grace alone.

6.On Mormons. Matt 7:16 "Ye shall no them by their fruits."

Good luck Elder! Heal fast!

They have a problem with the Godhead for starters. Since we believe that God the Father has a body of flesh and bone, they reject that.

Also, they don't understand the concept of the pre-existence.

They are mired in the Nicean creed...President Hinckley today said that he doesn't understand it...I am glad that I'm not alone.

Well, really we don't believe in the same Jesus they do - most Christians believe Jesus Christ, God the Father and the Holy Ghost are one being "manifest three different ways" or whatever...in that sense, I am glad I am not a "christian" because I do NOT believe that.
It makes NO sense to me since Christ was always referring to His Father and the "one who sent" Him. Also, when Christ was baptized, the Holy Ghost decended upon Him in the form of a dove and God the Father spoke from heaven saying "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." God must have meant "This is myself being baptized and me decending upon myself in the form of a dove..." Yeah right. That is one point in the bible it is SO obvious they are 3 distinct beings...but, someday all will know the truth and for some unfortunately it will be too late.

Good luck on your mission!

First of all, my Pastor has better things to talk to us about than the LDS church. I've never heard him say one word about "the Mormons".
Secondly, the LDS believe that Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer. If you read the Bible you know this is not correct. They believe that Jesus took on the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemane, not on the cross. Again read your Bible.
The truth is the LDS do believe in a different Jesus. Your prophet Gordon B. Hinckley said it's so.

You do have all the right names.. But is that person you names the same as the one Christians find in the Bible..
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Ok that is enough there are lots, more but this shows that the Bible says there is One God and Jesus is God,,

Psalms 90:2
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

I could add lot of verses like this too but to explain I stay with just this one..

The Mormon jesus was a created being who became a god because of his obedience to his father.

The Biblical Jesus is God in human flesh. He is the the God who made the worlds, the God therein we have life. The God that provided a Way to eternal Life as a gift though faith in Him.

I know you are sitting there reading this thinking "oh Jim has lost it he believe in the Jesus only doctrine." Not at all. Here in my explanation of God for those who can't understand the Triune God.

The Father is God he is all the God that there is. The Son (Jesus) is God He is all the God there is. The Holy Spirit is God and again all the God that there is. This is best understood by the mortal mind by looking at Creation. God has reveled Himself to us there as well as in the Bible.
The dimension of space are height, width and breadth. Each of these dimensions is infinite and by that definition each contains all space. Yet these dimension make up one space.
God is like that each is God all the God that can be because He is infinite yet these three are the One true God. Thus the true and living God has manifest Himself to us as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit..
So now you can see that the Jesus that Christians except and trust for our salvation. is nothing like the jesus of Mormonism Jim

Even President Hinkley admits to not believing in the same "traditional Jesus" as Christians. (Church News, June 20, 1998, p. 7).

The Mormon Church has taught that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer.

President Spencer W. Kimball wrote" "Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators ... The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah." (Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 32-33).
James Talmage explains who Jehovah is: "Jesus Christ was Jehovah...Jesus Christ, who is the Jehovah of the Old Testament" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol.1, p.11,27).
Milton R. Hunter (one of the LDS General Authorities) explains "The appointment of Jesus to be Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer…this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind" (The Gospel Through the Ages, p.15, 1945).
Joseph Smith stated: "The contention in heaven was...Jesus said there would be certain souls that would not be saved; and the Devil said he could save them all, and laid his plans before the grand council, who gave their vote in favour of Jesus Christ. So the Devil rose up in rebellion against God, and was cast down" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 8).
"And Satan came among them, saying: I am also a son of God" (Pearl of Great Price, Moses 5:17).

Schneb, if you think you know so much about a religion, please tell me why everything you are saying about MY church is wrong?

Yes, I believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. Yes, I believe that the Bible AND The Book of Mormon are the Word of God.

And, yes, I also believe you are entitled to your opinion. I just wish you would really research your facts because the opinion you are pushing is completely false and NOT what I learn and believe in. Thank you.

they are not Jews because Jew's do not believe the messiah has come yet. they don't believe Jesus so believing in Jesus and asserting your Jewish obviously contradicts one yet another.... that is unhappy that there are those Evangelist Christians that call themselves "Jews". provide up this custom now, your disgracing both Judaism and Christianity.

My Jesus is not the brother of Lucifer.
My Jesus is God the Father incarnate. Yours is not. Since your Jesus is not God, he is an imperfect sacrifice and thereby all your interpretation for salvation you cite is imperfect.

And where do you get all that business about Jesus being the Redeemer, Lamb of God and only begotten Son? From the Bible? Your elders have rejected the Bible as being "perverted and untrustworthy", hence the adherence to the Book of Mormon. See Source below for reference.

So let's compare the Book of Mormon with the Bible...

Salvation is by grace and works. 2 Nephi 25:23
Salvation is by grace alone. Ephesians 2:8&9

The Fall of man was a necessary part of God's plan. 2 Nephi 2:23-25
The Fall of man was a violation of God's command.Romans 5:12-14

Jesus was born at Jerusalem. Alma 7:10
Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Matthew 2:1

Children are born without any sin. Moroni 8:8
Children are born with original sin. Psalm 51:5

At Christ's crucifixion, there was three days of darkness. Helaman 14:27
At Christ's crucifixion, there were three hours of darkness. Luke 23:44

The Book of Mormon has been advertised in the Reader's Digest as "Another Gospel". This gospel was given to Joseph Smith through the angel Moroni. Just this very "message" was given the only double Anathema in scripture by apostle Paul.

Galatians 1:8-9
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

That said. In my interactions with various Mormons, I have never met a more wonderful group of individuals. I just believe that they have been sold a huge bill of goods from their sect.

p.s. Sorry about your foot. Get well soon. - S.
