I have been offered a job and would like to know the best way to get most of my money on payday. I am a single mom of two and I want to know if I should have taxes taken now or pay taxes when I file. I don't know how this head of household or dependents thing work. Any information would be helpful. I would be making $11.00 hour, 40 hours a week. Thank You

www.irs.gov, individual, withholding calculator.

This will give you a w-4 that is pretty accurate.

You can change it anytime you have a change in pay.

good luck

On your W4, you have to claim 3 dependants, that is the best way to get the most money on your payday, and it is better to let tax be deducted now, rather than look for a lump sum to pay at the end of the year when you file taxes, and you can file as a head of household to ease the tax burden.

W-4 line A enter 1
line B enter 1
line D enter 2 (your 2 children)
line E enter 1 ( you are supporting yourself and 2 dependents, your children)
line G enter 4 (your income is less than 57000)

Total is 9.

Given your numbers, you will owe no tax and and don't need any withheld.

I am assuming both children are under 17 and you can claim them. Adjust line D and G if to 1 and 2 if one is not, and both to 0 if both over 17.

I also assume you have no other income such as alimony, interest, dividends. Child support doesn't count.

I think you mean W4, but anyway.....you should claim single 3 on your W4. When it comes tax time (you probably already know this) file as head of household.
