Sounds pretty horrible to me.

And to head off a possible reply in advance, "God allowing Satan to do something" and "God doing something" are exactly the same, assuming an all-powerful deity.

Lets see:
Kill my entire family, take everything i own and, let someone pretty much destroy me both physically and emotionally, almost to the point of death.
I dont need that type of trust from someone/something. If thats what it takes to prove your love for God, then its no wonder there are so many of us non-believers out here.

JOB was an outstanding man in history. Not only did he possess great material wealth but he was respected as a compassionate judge and leader. The Bible says that he “came to be the greatest of all the Orientals.” (Job 1:3; 29:12-25) He is noted, along with Noah and Daniel, as a very righteous man. (Ezekiel 14:14, 20) The Bible also features Job as an example for Christians to follow, thus showing that he was an actual person in history.—James 5:11.

Job lived in the land of Uz, in what is now Arabia. Although not an Israelite, Job was a worshiper of Jehovah, something that Jehovah drew to Satan’s attention. God’s statement that “there is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright,” reveals that there was no other outstanding servant of God living at that time. (Job 1:8) Thus, Job’s testing by Satan must have occurred while his distant cousins, the Israelites, were in slavery in Egypt—sometime during the years following the death of the outstanding integrity keeper Joseph in 1657 B.C.E. and before Moses entered upon his course of integrity.

Moses evidently wrote the book of Job. But how could he have learned about Job’s testing? Well, after Moses was forced to leave Egypt in 1553 B.C.E. he settled in Midian, not far from the land of Uz. (Exodus 2:15-25; Acts 7:23-30) At that time, Job was living out the final 140 years of life with which Jehovah blessed him. (Job 42:16) Later, when the Israelites were near Uz toward the end of their wilderness journey, Moses could have heard about the last years of Job’s life and his death.

When Job was tested, his knowledge of God and his purposes was limited, since no part of the Bible had yet been recorded. However, Job would have known something about Jehovah’s dealings with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. This is because Job was evidently a descendant of Abraham’s brother Nahor, through Nahor’s firstborn son Uz. Furthermore, the brother of Uz was Bethuel, the father of Isaac’s wife Rebekah and the great-grandfather of Joseph. (Genesis 22:20-23) Job no doubt came to treasure whatever knowledge he had of Jehovah’s communications with Abraham and his descendants, and he was anxious to please Jehovah. Thus Job became a man of outstanding integrity, a man blameless and completely devoted to Jehovah.

My last 3 years have been so harsh and dark. So painful and miserable. So unbearable I dont know how I am here. I am actually starting too write a book about it. I guess my point is I asked Jesus to save me when I was below rock bottom. 1 year later (present) there has beem miracles in my life, things that I know now make sense to why I had to suffer so bad. What I discovered during that time and how much stronger I have become and the knowledgable I have, I would not take it back. This is very short description of everything but even when we suffer, God is with us and he knows what is best for you.

The book of Job, is a parabolic story of corporate man who were made self righteous by the book they wrote called the bible, or, "tree" of the knowledge of good and bad. (The mans holy grail, made for man, ruled over, by man.)
The corporate "Devil" who walks all over the face of the earth, is organized religion, the origininal serpent being just, religion, which has infested every corner of the earth, ruled over by man by way of their holy books or bibles, written by man, of course.
So, the devil entered in among them, slapped the bible down before god and said, aint that the greatest thing since sliced show bread? (This was before the new testament was written, which runs in opposition to the old testament.)
God said to him: Have you set your heart on my servant Job (with that book of polluted sayings, said to have been uttered from my mouth?) Very well, I will let you give it your best shot, but you better hurry, you don't have much time.
A new book will be written, a new testament.
The story of Job shows what will happen if you trust in man (there is no hope in man). Yes, it is an aweful horror, as spoken of, in the book of Daniel.
God allowed "Satan" to rule the world with religion, which is the realm of the man, they hold up the bible, like a sword by which they do battle. (The second horseman was given a great sword (christianity) so that people should kill one another.) God will do something about it shortly.

IF you would read the entire book before making a comment like that you would find the Job himself thought it was a good thing..

THINK before you SPEAK

Job 42
Job Responds to the Lord
1 Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do anything,
and no one can stop you.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’
It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about,
things far too wonderful for me.
4 You said, ‘Listen and I will speak!
I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.’
5 I had only heard about you before,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6 I take back everything I said,
and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

No, because the last 10 chapters were 'tacked on' by some scribe who could not tolerate the 'non ending'. But, when it is written, ..."the words of Job are completed" chap. 31...the book ends.

Just how does one replace dead children? Job didn't lament his loss of wealth, he loathed his loss of esteem.

How could millions of readers of the Bible, over the century's, fail to see the major flaw in the argument 'out of the whirlwind' which by the way never identified itself as God or the untenable position of elihu??? NATURE can only do God's will ! Job's question never was: who made the giraffe? Or the whale.

And your question does reflect your nic....you are a troll; but, thanks for the forum to provide some accurate information.

Speaking of satan...one of our poets and seers said it best in a novel..hmmmm was it Faust..I think so...he quotes the evil one as lamenting..."here, I work my dirty butt off to work evil; and God makes it turn out for GOOD!!!" Can you imagine how crazier and crazier this makes the evil ones?? !!!!
How brilliant of you, God...You have my highest Esteem !!!!

If you hold fast to the faith, your latter days will be better than your former days.

Job was rich because God protected Him. Satan tried to get Job to curse God. Job didn't. God restored all & more to Job in His latter day.

The story of Job is in the Bible because of Job's reaction to his circumstances. Job was tested, and responded as anyone who knows God is with them would...

No. The story of Job demonstrates the foolishness of judging another by externals.

Yes. Job was righteous man.He trusted and obeyed God in all circumstances and God rewarded him. It is not an easy thing to be a player in the midst of what God is up to. But it is simple. : )
