OK. Progress since last year - dropped over a stone in weight and am MUCH fitter. I too don't have time for the gym (and hate it anyway :> )
1. Build cycling into your routine to and from work (if its too far, cycle part way perhaps to a train station etc.) 7-8 miles takes about 30-45mins depending on whether flat ground and fitness level (45mins should do you even as a starter after a few days). When I started I did one day on one day off.
2. Next, calorie controlled diet. Simple, energy in = energy used + stored as fat. Loads of good websites to monitor your calorie intake. You MUST monitor what you eat each day against a shortfall target that will let you lose weight.
3. Each morning do sit-ups. Nothing extreme, start with 10 for a week, then 15 for a week, then 20.
Put that lot together and you'll loose weight, look miles better and feel better. I know I do!!!
GOOD LUCK..

Food is one but how about riding a bike to work?
That way you could work out and lose little time as you have to travel any way the only way for the pot belly to go completely would mean about two hours of cycling a day.
so you may just want to stick with the diet.

well, you need to find about 20 - 30 mins at least daily to get rid of your pot belly.
Try also eating properly; walking more often, using stairs instead of lifts/escalators, housework or gardening for about 30 mins a day quite vigorously, once every hour you could try to do 10 press-ups, 10 sit ups and 10 burpees.
But honestly, without a BIG commitment to training and diet, I doubt if you could lose a WHOLE pot-belly in a month.
Unfortunately as a trainer I get this too often, I wish people would be more sensible, but you could lose it quite healthily over 6 months.

depends what you mean by getting in shape!
getting fit takes time and dedication, can you fit exercise into your routine? e.g. cycling/running/walking fast to and from work or to and from shops etc
you have stairs? fast step ups on the first step quick enough to get your heart rate going.
and some basic toning exercises to tone up your middle which you can watching tv/waiting for tea to cook etc.
there is no point in just doing toning exercises or just doing cardiovascular exercise, it needs to be a combination if you have extra fat. the cardiovascular stuff burns the fat and the toning tones the muscle so that when the fat has gone you can see the toned muscle underneath!
good luck!

if you work in a tall building, do not use the elevator if it can be avoided. take the stairs. it is good for working of the excess fat and good for the heart.
Cut back on the fast food. if it must be fast eat Subway. they have been proven to have less fat.
No Snacks unless you get a small bag of chips to go with the sub.
plenty of water instead of soda (although one a day won't hurt)
