I don't think it's something that should be brought up until engagement/marriage.
A lot of people have the right idea. If you're in a relationship it's not going to help anyone at all to know what you've done in the past. It usually only makes people self conscious about themselves, and if there is a big space between the the # of partners between two people, it may also create feelings of inadequacy or shame.
However, if you're planning on marrying someone or already married, I think it's your duty to make the person you plan on spending the rest of your life with aware of who you have been with. It's kind of a big deal if later on in life someone pops up and reveals that they've slept with your husband or wife and you had no idea. It's unfair and cruel not to allow your spouse to prepare for any situations that may come up in the future regarding your past love life.

No. I think that when you divulge how many partners you've had you are asking for trouble. Especially in the woman's case if she's had many, guys often can't handle it and the first argument they have he's calling her a s.lut. Some things you just can't take back - for me that would be one of them. So the past is best left in the past. There's that old adage that you "don't ask the question if you can't handle the answer".

A man should tell but never say more than five and never bring up anyone that was in the recent past or is still around.
Women - lie, lie, lie... Even if he seems cool, 11 months later he'll throw that **** in our face.

Yes, it is a must for me. I also ask if she has tried any HIV test before. Yes, she might find that rude, but I'd rather to apology for the bad moment than getting an infection for the rest of my life.

yes of course. Serious relationships require trust if they are going to last. In order to trust somone you need to know important stuff like that about them. Thats my opinion.

i dont' think so...as long as your honest about any std's. I have never told my husband...i didn't see the point. I know i've slept with more people than him and i didn't want him to feel like he had to prove something.
I didn't lie, I just told him I think it's irrelevant to our relationship now.
