Any time your modifying a modern car, you upgrade in this order:
Cold Air Intake
Low-restriction exhaust (2 inch pipe if not planning to boost, 3-3.5 inch pipe if you are)
Header (4-2-1)
Good luck!
Though on that car if you're looking for serious performance, you're probably going to need an engine swap.

It is difficult to get more power without little money. You should start with
air intake upgrade
Exhaust upgrade
and chip tunning
and if you have mor emoney and the car doesn't have a turbo
a Turbo kit would be good but they cost around 2k
again it depends for what racing. If you gonna drift you need coilover supsensiosnwhich are further 1k
So it all depends how much you got to spend.

just put in a used v6 for a maxima because that 1.6 will not put out more than 120whp with out a over haul and big bore kit $1000+
