Wrights or Santos Dumont??

Why americans say the brothers Wright created the airplane if everybody know that Santos Dumont is your inventor ???

People, I'm brazilian so sorry my english !!

Because the Americans are right. Santos Dumont got close, but didn't quite make a flight that was a) long enough or b) controlled before the Wright brothers did. And more to the point, the Wright brothers continued to develop their designs into better aircraft, indicating they had found an answer, whereas Santos Dumont's designs never really went anywhere.
