I prefer La Guardia (LGA), myself, for easy access to Manhattan. Otherwise, I think JFK and EWR are about the same. It really all depends on where, exactly, you're going in New York City.

JFK is within the perimeters of New York City. But it is farther away from mid-Manhattan than is EWR.

I prefer newark, it's closer to than manhattan than jfk but if you are flying domestically lga is good

I go to NEWARK, I live 10 min from the airport. JFK is closer to NYC.
