It' s normal to feel sore after working out. You could wait untill the soreness goes away and then continue when you feel ready. After a while, as you continue exercising the soreness will stop. It will only come back if you workout harder than normal. Self massage helps relieve muscle soreness. You could try that. Also aspirin, ibuprofen can relieve some pain. But I would suggest drinking alot of water and wainting a day.

Muscle soreness is a good thing. It means that you have worked your body hard enough and that it now needs time to recover and build new muscle. As others have said, stretching will help too, but you just need to get enough rest, eat well, and get ready to workout again once your body is ready for it. Also, doing some light cardio (or any moderate activity in between workouts) should keep the joints 'lubed up'. Embrace the soreness.

Be thankful for the soreness! It’s a gauge on how efficient your work out is :) It means that your muscles are indeed exerting much effort, unlike working out and just feeling tired after… I used to work out a lot too, 2x everyday, when I wake up and before I sleep, 2 hours each time. And just like you, I would get all sore and stiff. I usually soak myself in the Jacuzzi or bath tub, and just unwind a bit with some bath salts that help me calm down. Sometimes I go for some laps on the pool after I work out, sort of like a cool down. After all the bathing, I massage my tired muscles with lotion, I sometimes use that electric lotion heater… so when I apply it the lotion is warm & relaxing. Do not take caffeine after, take something soothing like something with vanilla and chamomile. Lastly, learn to take a rest after a series of hard workouts… your body needs time to recuperate.

I heard you are supposed to drink lots of water to flush out the lactic acid buildup in your muscles. Stretching after, not before also helps. You may tear a muscle if you stretch it when its cold.

You have to stretch before and after. If you didn't stretch before do a really, really good stretch after, even if it hurts. I know it might be painful but you will feel so much better in the morning and better off for your next workout.

Be sure to stretch properly afterwards. Each position should be held for 10-15 seconds. It should take about five minutes total.
