I am currently using the Alpha Omega curriculum.I think all subjects are really good. I think the math is jsut as good as A Beka. I also like the fact that if my child doesnt understand something he can pick up the phone and call and talk to a certified counselor(teacher). I would highly reccomend this program.

I just ordered a few select ones this past year and didn't like them at all. Specifically, they were not very advanced - sort of like busy work - but a MUCH WORSE PROBLEM was the lack of spiraling review. For instance, in every other subject in every other curriculum I've ever used, a child would read/learn page 1, then have questions over page 1, then learn page 2, and have questions over pages 1-2, etc. In the LifePacs we used [and there were only a few, so maybe I am just generalizing...] my kids would learn page 1, then have questions over page 1, then learn page 2, and have questions over page 2. It was VERY confusing for them and they kept getting stuff wrong because they were used to using all accumulated knowledge to answer questions. I stopped having them do the LifePacs and just taught from them, which made them, um, not self-teaching as they are intended to be! I have heard good things about the Switched on Schoolhouse, though, especially in science.

For math I would recommend MathUSee. I've used Abeka, BJUP, Saxon, and MathUSee, and MathUSee is by far the best, followed by Saxon.

I use Alpha Omega Lifepac Math for my girls who are K and 1st. My son used it before 3rd but then went to Switched On Schoolhouse. I have not used A Beka. But I feel that Lifepacs are comparable but probably not as advanced as A Beka. A Beka is about 4-6 weeks ahead of Lifepacs. But I feel Lifepacs are easier for me to teach. Hope this helps.

P.S. The Bible does have Quizzes and Tests. As for the price, compared to others it is lower than most of the other major publishing companies. $300 per child (second child you just buy the workbooks $40 per subject).

I have used Life Pacs for Language arts and Science in the past. I looked at copy of 5th grade math and I have it here to use for extra work when I need it. In my opinion, it isn't as thorough as A Beka. I have used Saxon math up to this year with my 4th grade daughter and am switching to Math U See because it seems it will help her stay focused. It uses a lot of manipulative's and she is very much a "hands on" learner.
Hope this helped some.
