Spring has arrived and Easter is upon us. It's my favorite time of year. New birth....new growth and the celebration of life. I would like to take a moment o reflect on the gift of life that has been given to us all- because of Jesus. Please comment about Easter and what this Holiday means for you.

It is the Resurrection Day of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died and rose again, so we all might have eternal life with Him.

He could have easily walked away from Calvary Hill saying, No Father, I will not die in place of these people. Who have no respect to authority, who has no respect to person period.

Instead, He said not a word as He was being sentenced, has He was being beaten, He took our punishment that day.

Oh Praise God our Savior is RISEN!!!!

Thank you Jesus for dying in place of me.. thank you for going and preparing a place for me in our heavenly Father's mansion.

Happy Resurrection Day!!!!

Acts 12:4 'And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.'

I love Spring-babies/new blooms, usually nicer weather...but I believe nature gives us all of that. In fact, Easter is taken from a Celtic fertility festival that celebrates spring and was even named after a Celtic goddess, Eostre. Hence, Easter egg hunts and baby animal decorations.

Easter is also my favorite holiday b/c it's the celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ and the whole foundation of Christianity sits on not that Jesus was born b/c even believers of false gods know of His birth. Our foundation is not that He was crucified b/c there are many who still search for His bones in the grave. Yet, what seperates us from them is that we believe in our hearts that Jesus was resurrected and the fact that we celebrate it every year is so awesome b/c it proves that no one call kill the True God with their disbeliefs. Easter is so close to my heart for this reason and personal reasons. Jesus Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I love spring, but I do not celebrate Easter. Spring means the new life, as you said. It makes me feel alive after a cold and dreary winter.

Easter for me is the remembrance that Jesus sacrificed himself for the world, was crucified and then resurrected and is alive and well and sitting at the right hand of God right now.
There is no news greater than this, no Joy greater than this because of Jesus I have been forgiven and will receive eternal life with him and with God.
God is good and God is great and mighty.
Thank you God for giving to the world your only begotten Son so that I might live.
Peace and Love

(And yes we Christians like hi-jacking pagen holidays and turning them into Holy days for God, Praise the Lord.)

Easter was originally a pagan festival honoring Eostre, a Teutonic (Germanic) goddess of light and spring. At the time of the vernal equinox (the day in the spring when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are of equal length), sacrifices were offered in her honor. As early as the eighth century, the name was used to designate the annual Christian celebration of the resurrection of Christ.

In fact, this holiday means absolutely nothing to me.

I also won't be celebrating Easter. How can God approve of the merger of paganism and Christianity. I want to remember the death of Jesus in a way acceptable to God and not insult Him or Jesus by using paganism to do so.

I don't celebrate Easter. The name "Easter" originated with the name of an ancient Goddess, Eastre.

I celebrate the memorial of Jesus' death like he commanded us to do. (Luke 22:19-20)
On Nissan 14 (April 2 this year) I will attend a Memorial of his Death to reflect on how he made if possible for all those serving him to have everlasting life.

well, seeing as how oestre was a pagan celebration of spring with its brightly colored eggs representing new growth and the colors of spring and the rabbit to signify the fertility of the earth and how this pagan festival was incorporated and ingested by the church in order to gain pagan converts, just like many other pagan rituals and celebrations were, like say, christmas, and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with jesus, i would just like to say...BAH, HUMBUG!!!

Thank you Jesus!
If it wasn't for Him there would be no new life. I've enjoyed for years being in a passion play as every year it reminds me of all He went through for me.
