This varies from school system to school system. You should ask your counselor (even if you have never spoken to him or her before) or another person in the office. Teachers should know but they don't always know all of the details. The information may be on the school or district website. For schools that have a policy it is often 9 absence/year or 5/semester. Chronic illness or another crisis should earn a waiver. Occasionally you can earn back a day by attending "Saturday School" but this is rare. A bit of clarification--these aren't credits you have already earned, right? You don't really "lose" credits--you just fail to earn them because of grades or attendance issues. You wouldn't be asking this if your or a friend were not in jeaopardy. Most important--talk to someone at school. Whatever reason you have for missing lots of classtime--they may be able to help you with it--or put you in touch with someone who can. Please graduate!

It is different for different school systems. check the school district's website or handbook. some schools have a policy allowing only so many missed days before no credit is given. Others allow credit if you pass the class.
