Club soda and carbonated water are same. I don't see why it should taste different. Unless you use a particular brand of club soda having its own added flavour.

Why carbonated water or club soda? It would taste the same, but I'd rather use soda or juice.
Cranberry Cocktail is really good to mix with it
or grapefruit juice

Close, but not exactly. But the taste has more to do with the vodka, which is why I don't bother with water of any sort.
