Usually autistic people are assumed to be developmentally disabled. The opposite is usually true. Some autistic people are actually savants. Most have one area of life in which they excel and they struggle with the others. Hope this helps

My brother had 4 kids, two with autism. Since they have moved to town, I've become very involved with all the children & have become obsessed with the subject. I frequently bore people at parties with all the facts & stats & theories.

OK...this is your 3rd question about autism that I have answered in 15 minutes. Do you have a report due and this is how you're doing research, or are you asking becasue you want to know if someone close to you may be autistic???

Enstein. Mozart and Van Gogh are all said to have had autism.

That there is one ASD that is genetic and can be tested for, Rett Syndrome. That RS has been recently reversed in mice and a cure/treatment is possible. Once a cure/treatment for RS is found, other autistic spectrum disorders will also be treatable.

My nephew who has non-verbal autism and is very smart. He could put together a puzzle faster than me anyday.

That the rates have increased to 1 in 155 kids.


That it seems they refuse to believe that there might be a link to vaccinations. (It might not be, but at least do a conclusive study)

All parents should be asking questions.
