The lamp and the eye stand for our intentions and choices. The person with a good eye focuses on God alone and is totally loyal to His kingdom. His life is full of God's light. The person with a bad eye makes other things the goal of his life. Because he has purposefully turned from God, his darkness is great.

What is interesting about that verse is that it seems out of place where it is located in the text. The passage where it is contained is talking about "earthly treasures", "not serving two masters", and not being able to serve god and money.

Then, in the middle of all that, a verse about the eyes being the lamp of the body, having good eyes, and being filled with light. Doesn't really fit in there.

But, it is interesting the use of the word "light" in that verse concerning eyes. Eyes are what we use to see things. "Light" is generally a term associated with knowledge. Seems that if someone uses their eyes effectively, they can be filled with light, or knowledge, depending on how you look at it. It also talks about not using you eyes effectively will lead to darkness, which is often associated with ignorance.

And, given you always hear people talking about having "blind faith" has to make you wonder.

Also, one has to wonder why they would include that scripture in a passage talking or worldly possessions and money.

But, since I am an atheist, I am sure I will be informed that I am taking all that out of context.

Yes.
A simple lifestyle is all that's needed. Keep your eye focused on spiritual things.

And Matthew 6:33,34 which states: “Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to YOU. So, never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Sufficient for each day is its own badness."

Arrogance, thy name is single eye!

The thing is, interpretation is ALWAYS personal . It may be "correct" for one and completely different for another, yet still "correct.

your arrogance for your wisdom prevents me from answering your question.

1 Co 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

I don't know it depends on your interpritation ?
