I found a meal plan, not a diet, in Women's Health Magazine. It's to help your blood sugar levels while helping you to lose weight. It's 1600 calories a day with a mix of protiens, many fruits and veggies and appropriate portions of carbs and dairy. I am 21 years old, weigh 135 lbs and am 5'2. I exercise 5 times a week, 30-40 minutes of cardio each time (that is what the magazine suggests). According to my BMR, I should lose approx 1.2 lbs a week or so. Is this correct?

sounds like you did all the research already. I think it's correct. you might lose more or less, depending on how your body responds.

Close, but not completely correct.

In order to maintain your weight of 135, you would need to eat roughly 1485 calories/day. If you eat 1600, that's a surplus of 115 per day (over 7 days, that's a surplus of 805)

30-40 minutes of cardio will burn roughly 300 calories so multiplied by 5 that's 1500 (now minus the 805 surplus) and you're weekly caloric deficit is 695.

One pound = 3500 calories so 3500/695 = 5 weeks per pound.

If you want to lose 1 pound per week, you need a daily deficit of 500 calories. Try eating 1400 calories with 6 days of 30-min cardio sessions. That should do it.

Best wishes.

people need different amounts of calories because everybody is different hight and weight wise.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

I will tell you that you should consult with your doctor your 135 pounds I do not think that is overweight. I am diabetic and have to watch what I eat remember not every diet is made for your body. Please don't do anything that could potentially damage your health. If you need to loose a few pounds drop your soda intake drink more water and stay away from fried foods. But you should really check with a physician before dieting. If you were 200 pounds I would see the need for you to diet but at 135 you should really watch what you do to yourself. Dieting can lead to severe health problems. Take care of yourself and do it the safe way. Best of luck!
