In interracial relationships, there is a lot more pressure put on the woman than on the man. It's a double-standard, but that's just the way it is... and EVERYONE helps perpetuate it. If a man dates outside his race, a few friends and family might raise an eyebrow... but that's about it. If a woman dates outside her race, her family (whether they admit it publicly or not) is PISSED about it.
That being the case, the problem is more severe for black women than for white women. Whites are taught that even though we might feel racism, it's wrong and we should deny those feelings. You may be upset that your sister is dating a Puerto Rican, but you need to get over it because those feelings are wrong. Blatant racism is taboo in the black community also, but not on the same level. African-Americans (right or wrong) are not taught that feelings of resentment toward whites should be held back or denied. Therefore, a black woman dating a white man stands to deal with a bit more sh*t from her own family and community than does a white woman dating a black man.
Because of this, it discourages a lot of white men from pursuing black women. I dated a black girl when I was in my late-teens, and the fallout from her family was simply something than an 18-year old guy was not prepared to deal with. I got out of that relationship, and have been gun-shy about pursuing other relationships with black women. I hope that things keep getting better, and that the next generation doesn't have to deal with all that.

I think that to many men of color a white girl friend/wife is viewed as a trophy. With white men I think there is still the old social stigma of not mixing races. There is no trophy status with white man black woman. As time progresses though I think this will change.

I'm white. I've dated black women, I date women I think are sexy. I think it's just a personal prefernce, alot of white guys just find white women more attractive to them. But if I see a black women who I like, I'll date her.

Often it is the white men who are racist and shallow. May be that is why. Or their ancestors have raped so many black women during the slavery they had enough!

Where did you get those statistics? I don't think they are accurate. Maybe you only hang out where black men hang out.
