It may stimulate some students to study harder, but it really isn't helpful because competition is basically an ego trip. It makes people tense, but learning occurs best in a relaxed atmosphere. In the real world, people usually need to work as a team, so cooperation and synergy are what they should be learning, not the competitive adversarial mindset.

i am never a competitive person in anything i do, but i make sure i do my best in what i do.
i agree with the experts cuz when you look at the asian system you find that alot students that go through it come smatter than many pple around the world.
its not that they were born smart, or what they eat....IT IS SIMPLY BECUZ OF THE COMPTETITION THAT THEY GO THROUGH THAT PUSHES TO GO AND STRIVE FOR A HIGHER POSITIONS.....
so yes competitive atmosphere is helpful, the proof is everywhere.

Being competitive in ANY atmosphere always pushes one to strive for the best that they can be. There are exceptions to every rule, however, so do not quote me in your answer - paraphrase.

Liberals say that but do not practice that. If a subject does not meet their standards or goes against their agenda, such as creationisim, then its banned. Other examples are homo-sexuality, to them if you speak of it in a positive manner all is well, but if you dissent, you are repremanded. Hypocracy at its best.
