Whenever I right click on any file or folder, either on the desktop, in windows explorer (or any equivalent program), or in the run/open/save function of any program, it causes the program to close and windows to die (everything disappear including start bar, desktop icons etc.) only to return with all the other programs running as normal. It also happens when using the CTRL+C/CTRL+V etc. functions. I can, however, cut/copy/paste/delete/rename etc. etc. files using the toolbar commands at the top of the screen...

This doesn't happen when editting text etc...

Its been like this for a while now, so I can't pinpoint anything i might've done to cause this... I've tried running virus/spyware scans in case something like that has ruined, but to no avail...

Any advice would be really helpful, this is being really inconvenient!!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

In first place try with another mouse.

But, I think a virus is the problem. My suggestion is , if cannot scan your hard disk drive with any antivirus program to save (if you can) the things that are important on a CD and to format the partition on which the operating system is installed. After that you have to reinstall the operating system, drivers, software you need and to install a good antivirus program on it.

Also you can place your hard disk drive into another computer which has a good antivirus program on it, and to scan your hard disk drive.

I don't think it's your mouse, although you can check to see if it is working properly through the device driver:

To open Device Manager, click Start,
point to Settings,
and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System.
On the Hardware tab,
click Device Manager.
Right-cl the item to be checked and select Properties.

You should be told whether or not the item is working properly. You can also update the driver from here.

You can try a Windows repair if you think that will help.
