I've had a fever for the last four days. I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me some antibiotics for my cough and congestion. I've also been taking an OTC medicine for my fever. Is this four-day fever normal? Yesterday my temperature was around 101 and today it's lingering at 102. It went down to 98.6 degrees exactly two days ago, and it was this morning too. But the fever won't go away!

I live in the country...where insurance is rare, and old wivestale medicine still exists.

As for my opinion..the best combination for fighting a fever is this.

You CAN take Ibuprofin/motrin and tylenol at the same time. Take the motrin every 8 hours and the tylenol every 4 hours.

Next, take a COOL bath every 4 hours. Not COLD not warm...but COOL.

Now make sure you stay in bed...watch TV..relax, any activity will make your body temperature rise..so save the housecleaning for another day.

While relaxing, keep a cool wet folded washcloth on your forehead. When the washcloth gets warm..replace it with a fresh cool one.

If you follow these steps I assure you your fever will go away. If for some reason it does not go away within 72 hours...get back with a doctor.

Subject: Coughing

Sorry, no graphic for this one, and don't laugh, it works 100% of the time although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered
it) aren't sure why.

To stop nighttime coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief.

Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.

I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the
effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like accupressure. Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so, I listened.

It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition, to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

Lolly tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, ( incredibly annoying!) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough free for hours every night that she used it.

to cut the cough...have 2teaspoon of honey mixed with 1/2spoon of black pepper at least 2-3times in a day with warm water. This will help for the cough.

Take care. Get well soon. hope this helps!! lemme know later:)
