I was with my girlfriend for 8 months, we split up just over a week ago becuase we both decided that the relationship wasnt as good as it used to be and both of use werent that happy anymore!
I used to see her nearly everyday in college and the weekends, but now she has gone away for work, im not going to see her for about 6weeks.
I have had alot of time to think the last week, and i would like to try and get back with her after these 6weeks. I know i will be very lucky if i do.
Ive only txted her once since we have broken up, im planning on sending her a little somthing for easter with a note saying hope everyfin is goin all rite at work etc....nothing about us. Do you think this will go down well?
Most of the advice ive been given is to make her see that i am really happy and getting on with my life. But how do i show this when im not going to see her?

First off, kudos to you for wanting to you for wanting to send her something to let you know that you still care about her despite the relationship turning sour. I can't say how she will take it, but hopefully she will see it as a gesture that you at least want to stay on good terms with her even if things can't work out between you. I mean, just because the relationship didn't work out, doesn't mean you can't still be friends afterwards, especially if the two of you were indeed "friends" while you were seeing each other. I agree that the idea of not putting anything about the two of you in the card would be a good idea, at least for until you can figure out how she feels. For now, I would just try to focus on a friendship with her, and letting her know that you still care about her as a friend. Anyway, I wish you luck.

Well if you think about it, 8 months relationship isn't very long. The people I've known who have deep connections and the most trouble moving on are the ones whose committed way over 1 year. You two have just broken up about a week ago, which is still really recent. I think you're just going through withdrawals right now because you're used to her being around. I think there is a good legitimate reason for why you two split and if you two get together right now, you'll probably split again.
You shouldn't wait for her to come back and resume your relationship. Because you're assuming that she'll say yes. Instead, you should go about your own life and rediscover the joys of being a free man. And if she comes back home in 6 weeks and is totally digging you, decide then but don't make it your obsession from this moment forward. Besides, if you think about her all the time it'll make you seem needy and women flee from needy men.

Maintain a stance that you still care for her in some form or another. The most innocent way would be as a friendship. I like the idea of sending the little gift that doesn't mention the relationship. It's a perfect way to show that you still care.

its hard to go from seeing someone every day and night to nothing. make sure that after the six weeks you still feel the same way, and its not just because you are lonely. other than that i think you have it right. send her that something for easter, and dont mention you guys getting together. when she comes back go ahead and see if she wants to be together, as long as thats truly how you feel. if it doesnt work, well at least you wont wonder what if.
