Valor Multimedia player in car dash install?

I have just installed a valor multimedia player in my 2002 escape and i have it all working and everything but when i turn on my headlights the screen blinks from dim to bright almost in rhythm the entire time. I talked to the company who made the wire harness and they said that a capacitor isn't what i needed to solve this problem, can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks

Pull the player out and disconnect the new unit's illumination wire from the factory wiring. In most after-market systems this is an orange or orange/white wire. Once it's disconnected, then turning on the lights shouldn't change anything on the player.
